Great question and thoughts! Success to me is accomplishing goals, whether personal or professional. Those goals will require the generation of support from someone and/or something. Thus, the teamwork and friendships that form as a result. Having the ability and desire to reach out and form those relationships are the key to success no matter how you define it for you.
I like this question and I've been asking myself the same! I also feel like I got a late start - a real late start - on my current career. While I'm at an age where I can retire (and collect Medicare, though I'm sure you thought I was only 29, har har) I kind of hate to give up this rewarding job I have. Am I missing out on retirement-type stuff, family stuff by continuing to work? Anyway - I like this column and the question you posed!
Thank you, @Pam Houghton!! I think most people get late starts, to be honest. So many of my author friends had their first book published at midlife or later. So maybe that’s the norm, then? If you love the job, why give it up? I think the hardest thing is to be where we are, when we’re there, and be happy with it.
Hi Lynne, I always love your newsletters and Look in the Mirror. They are so insightful, candid and honest. I do not think that I ever told you that my travels took me for 8 years on and off to the Sinai Desert to work for a peace keeping force. I attended the first 80s Taba talks and many more after that. I spent a lot of time riding horses in the Golan Heights in my spare time at a wonderful Israeli kibbutz/stables. My husband proposed to me at the Notre Dame hotel in Jerusalem. During that time I spent a lot of time in Jerusalem which is, and always be, my favorite place in the world.
Amazing journey!! Wow, the experiences you’ve had. I agree that Jerusalem is one of the most amazing places in the world. For me, Israel is the best place on earth, and I’ve been to a lot of amazing places. There is something in the spirit of the land and the people. Thank you for reading and for sharing!
Keeping it real. Thanks, Lynne!
Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting, @Linda Berlin
Dear Lynne, I’ve heard it said that success is when we took our first breath, and each breath thereafter is a gift that confirms that we are enough.
I’ve heard it said that the purpose of life is to Enjoy from the heart, not the mind, and to rest in gratitude always.
Such wise measurements, @Jeff B — grateful for YOU!!! And this important reminder.

I love that, @Leah Wolfe! Thanks for reading and responding. xo
