I love the idea of talking about writing and books with people who love them, too.

When you sit at a desk in your living room every day, alone and in the quiet of your beautiful but echoing home, it’s hard to believe that life is about connections, the little moments, the human-to-human interactions. But I know that to be true, which is why I’m writing this newsletter, to talk to YOU.

I’m finally accepting that I might have something to say. I’ve always been a writer but didn’t quite buy into that for a long time because, well, you know, all the things that other people told me about what makes a worthwhile pursuit. Not writing! Get a job that pays the bills, and all that. Which I did, for a long time. This is me a bunch of years ago with 3 of my kids (who are now 21, 19 and 16), post-divorce and with my hair blown out. It was a pic for a Detroit magazine about my journey as a writer and an entrepreneur.

But in the quiet moments, I whispered, I’m a writer, first and foremost. I am really a writer.
