A Lot of Authors to Usher in 2024
Six podcast episodes released this month with author stories - listen in!
Happy new year, dear readers!!
What’s on tap for you in 2024? Big plans? Dreams coming true? Life shifts? Travel near and far? I’d love to hear - share in a comment or reply to me directly!! Tell me how you approach a new year and what it means to you.
This month, I am fortunate to release SIX new episodes on the MAKE MEANING PODCAST, featuring amazing and inspiring authors. I am so lucky to have lots of interest from authors who want to be featured on the podcast, and I had a lot of episodes waiting to air, so I decided to start the year off with a splash. I hope you’ll tune in and share these inspiring stories widely!!
You’ll meet…
BLAKE KIMZEY, founder of WritingWorkshops.com and an author, screenwriter and hands-on dad (January 2nd)
SUZANNE NUGENT, one of the funniest and most talented people I know, whose novel, BRUNCH AND OTHER OBLIGATIONS, is just one of her many talents (January 5th)
APRIL DAVILA, award-winning author and meditation expert (January 9th)
JONATHAN WHITELAW, Scottish-turned-Canadian author of cozy crime (January 12th)
ANA VECIANA-SUAREZ, journalist and historical fiction author, and grandma extraordinaire (January 16th)
ELIZABETH CONTE, indie author who’s bringing Victorian fiction into the 21st century (we have a great debate about adverbs around the 10-minute mark) (January 19th)
Listen to the MAKE MEANING PODCAST on Apple, Spotify, or here (and scroll through all the back episodes - I’ve been podcasting now for 6 years!). There are some fascinating people to meet.
When I shifted my entire career to focus on writing novels, I also shifted the podcast to focus on authors and people in publishing. I used to look for guests who found meaning and purpose in life and work. Pretty broad, right? I’d argue that ALL of my guests still fit this description, but now they expressly channel that meaning and purpose onto the page.
I started the podcast to capture my father’s stories and experiences before he died. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 79, and we didn’t know if he’d make his 80th birthday. The very first episode aired on July 9, 2018, my dad’s 80th birthday, and we listened to it together, tears streaming down our cheeks. Since I lost my father on January 2, 2020, I haven’t been able to listen to that episode again (or the one he appeared in a year later, on the 1-year anniversary of the podcast). But someday I hope to, to hear his voice again.
Since I started my career as a journalist, I love podcasting because it gives me the opportunity to interview people and learn from them. I love asking questions - getting nosy! - and hearing how people achieve their goals. I hope you enjoy these stories. Maybe you’ll want to be a guest on the MAKE MEANING PODCAST one day!
Here’s where to submit a guest for a future episode.
